This course provides an introduction to the study of video games as texts by approaching them through the lens of their cultural, educational and social functions within a contemporary context. To do so, students will play and analyze video games as we consider theory and research from different fields. Students must demonstrate the ability to conduct in-depth analysis and to structure, present and relate it to the larger field of game theory in a clear manner. In doing so, students develop essential skills that enable them to look critically at artifacts in the medium.

- The assignment incl. accompanying information will be made available through Toledo.

- Student notes.

Texts from the following books will be made available on Toledo:

- MIT (2014). Game Analysis Guidelines.
