During this course, the student will pursue various objectives in terms of creativity and technical skills to develop their abilities and enhance their artistic expression. Here are some objectives that need to be achieved:
Creativity:
Exploration of different genres of photography such as landscapes, portraits, documentary, fashion, still life, etc. Exploring these different genres will help broaden the student's creative horizon and discover new techniques and perspectives that result in inventiveness and imagination. The student will be able to present original and innovative work. ORIGINALITY
The student will develop their own style by taking necessary steps to create their unique style. This may involve focusing on specific subjects, using a specific technique, or applying a distinctive editing style. Developing their own style can make their photography recognizable and distinguish them from others. AUTHORSHIP
By critically reflecting on societal, cultural, artistic, and historical matters and integrating them into their images in a layered manner, the student can demonstrate their ability to use photography as a powerful medium for social, cultural, and artistic engagement. LAYERING
Technique:
Experimenting with lighting and composition: The student will understand and apply various lighting techniques and compositional rules. They will experiment with different light sources, shadows, perspectives, and framing techniques to create visually interesting images.
The student will demonstrate carefully considered technical choices through their images, such as ISO, aperture, shutter speed, sharpness, and light metering (incident and reflective), that align with the requirements of the assignment. The student will handle the equipment ergonomically and appropriately, paying attention to comfort and efficiency.
The student will employ the necessary adjustments and techniques in post-production, considering the assignment and presentation, to achieve an optimal result.
The student is capable of making an initial selection of their images based on the assignment requirements. This involves assessing the images for their relevance, artistic quality, and their ability to convey the intended message or story. Additionally, the student develops a foundation for determining the appropriate sequence of images to create a coherent series. This means the student is able to arrange the images in a way that creates a smooth transition, visual storytelling, or a specific emotional impact.
Through these objectives, this course component contributes to achieving the following program-specific learning outcomes: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 11, and 12.

Didactic recordings for clarifying the fundamentals of photography:
Individual assignments based on themes to gradually acquire the language of visual imagery.
Developing focused "seeing" by analyzing supporting visual elements.
Exploring viewpoints and recognizing light and lighting directions.
Developing a sense of composition.
Encouraging uniqueness and variation within the image.
The student acquires photographic techniques to express themselves comfortably using the medium of photography, both in digital and analog formats. They develop their own visual language through feedback from the main studio they work in.
The assigned exercises are carried out in the available studios or on location. They are continuously guided and adjusted through mentoring. Presentation is also important.
This course component consists of three different studios in the first semester:
Still Life II
Portrait and/or Fashion
Documentary Photography
In the second semester, the student works across studios on one or more final assignments.
Participation in the "Fashion/Portrait" workshop week is a mandatory component.
Participation in the project week in collaboration with the OHO Interieurvormgeving at Thomas More Mechelen is a mandatory component.

Het doel van de procesevaluatie is om inzicht te krijgen in de werkzaamheden en processen die leiden tot de gewenste resultaten. Het helpt bij het identificeren van de sterke punten, de knelpunten en de verbetermogelijkheden, en kan dienen als basis voor het verwerven en optimaliseren van het toepassen van de doelstellingen van dit opleidingsonderdeel.
Wanneer er voor het indienen van een werkstuk een bepaalde inleveringstermijn is vastgelegd en een student om gegronde redenen voorziet een bepaalde termijn niet te kunnen respecteren, neemt hij 5 werkdagen voor de aangegeven vervaldatum per Luca-mail contact op met de titularis die een nieuwe inleveringstermijn kan bepalen.
Indien de inleveringstermijn niet gerespecteerd wordt, kan het werkstuk als niet-ingeleverd worden beschouwd en krijgt de student voor deze opdracht een beoordeling NA (niet-aangemeld).
Om te slagen voor Studio Practice 2: Still Life, Portrait, Documentary moet het TOTAAL-eindcijfer minstens10/20 bedragen. Er is geen afronding naar boven. Als dit eindcijfer tussen 9,01/20 en 9,99/20 bedraagt, zal de eindscore 9/20 zijn, en geen 10/20.
Toelichting bij herkansen
Het eindresultaat komt tot stand via een samengesteld cijfer:
De score van de procesevaluatie behaald tijdens de eerste examenkans blijft ongewijzigd behouden en bepaalt voor 30% het eindcijfer van de tweede examenkans.
Beoordeling van de gevraagde werkstukken telt mee voor 70% van het eindcijfer van de tweede examenkans.
Wanneer er voor het indienen van een werkstuk een bepaalde inleveringstermijn is vastgelegd en een student om gegronde redenen voorziet een bepaalde termijn niet te kunnen respecteren, neemt hij 5 werkdagen voor de aangegeven vervaldatum per Luca-mail contact op met de titularis die een nieuwe inleveringstermijn kan bepalen.
