Aims
In this course, the student is strongly oriented towards the future professional practice of the musician. At the end of this course, the student has knowledge and insight into the organisational, financial social aspects of the professional practice. He/she has acquired additional skills which he/she can apply in future professional practice.

Content
The course Professional Toolkit (part 1 and part 2) consists of a package of elective modules, partly organised at fixed times in the timetable, and partly flexible. The content offered changes each academic year on the basis of current events and opportunities.
The ‘fixed’ package may consist of topics such as:
- Entrepreneurship
- Recording techniques
- Performance physics
- Performance psychology
- Scenic awareness
- Body awareness for musicians
- Issues of professional collaboration
- etc.
The flexible package may include:
- Internship LUCA Production office
- Internship Professional ensemble (Choir, Orchestra)
- Internship LUCA Music Recordings
- Individual project
The concrete programme is announced at the start of each academic year. The student formally signs up for the chosen modules through the Toledo community.
Module registration closes at the end of October.
Students take at least the following modules:
- Professional Toolkit 1: The ‘fixed’ module 'Entrepreneurship' + min. 1 elective module
- Professional Toolkit 2: min. 2 elective modules

The student will receive a PASS or FAIL for this course.
- The student must pass the compulsory module ‘The Essentials of Entrepreneurship’ (= min. 10/20), organized in the first semester. The student submits a portfolio (deadline: 1 December) and takes part in a written exam in the first examination period. The portfolio and the exam each count for 50% of the result.
- The student actively participates in one of the optional modules. The student makes the requested assignments in due time.
- For the flexible modules, a reflective report of max. 1 page has to be submitted before the formal start of the exam period.
Information about retaking exams
- The written exam (Professional Toolkit 1) can be retaken.
- The flexible modules can also be completed later than June.
- The other fixed modules cannot be retaken.
- Depending on the individual programme of the student, the specific criteria for the second examination opportunity can be communicated individually.
