The student chooses 1 of 3 pathways

1. Form and architecture of the human figure / the human figure in time and space

This pathway consists of a merger of module 1 and 2 from the course unit ‘Drawing 2’ so at to facilitate to an in-depth study. The point of departure is the specific attention given to the anatomy, form and architecture of the human body within a particular situation, circumstance or spatiality. Information gathered from the spatiality (light, movement, monumentality…) of the setting is the starting point of a personal study.

2. Free interpretation of the human figure

The human figure is the starting point to arrive at authentic and autonomous images and/or thinking exercises testifying the origination of an image. These exercises can function as a separate identity, but can just as well be part of a personal pathway and be integrated into a contemporary artistic thinking process. Drawing is used as a means to arrive at a mental state in which a feeling of wonder while thinking and doing plays a central part. Students freely navigate on a platform of knowledge and can rely on the support of a coach/teacher in doing so.

3. Drawing from a personal and visual pathway

Reality is not necessarily the only starting point for a drawing, reality can also be used in an imaginative way. The development of a personal visual language is central to the course. The student’s effort, choice of subject and research will continually be questioned. Various aspects of drawing such as composition, tactility, space, colour, techniques… can be dealt with. The vocabulary of drawing and how an image is rendered on a two dimensional surface is studied in-depth. The drawing process is documented by a personal inspiring artistic reference book.3.
