Content
The graphic design atelier of 2BA builds on the competencies students have acquired in 1BA and introduces students to a number of new concepts such as: order, hierarchy and series. ‘Order’ means students should be able to organize a multitude of graphical materials (in a certain rhythm one after the other and by visualizing (sub)categories…). Students have to deal with complex texts demanding a hierarchical approach so as to realize a clear and consistent typography. Attention is given to research into legibility versus typographical experiment. Students also study the concept ‘series’: they realize various applications of the same design without recourse to commonplace systems or solutions. The assignments stimulate students to design while continually questioning the medium.
