This course consists of the productions indicated for your specific specialization and instrument in the document 'implementation productions' published on Toledo under the community 'concerts and events'.

The following topics are discussed:

  • Controlling the important musical parameters in a musical ensemble: intonation, phrasing, style, timbre, timing
  • Efficient rehearsal methods
  • Methodology of rehearsing in group

Communication and planning:
The planning and information (scores, conductors, soloists) of all productions are published in the 'Concerts&Events' community on Toledo. These can be consulted from the introduction week (or earlier), i.e. before the study contract is drawn up.

The lessons consist of full group or sectional rehearsals and, potentially, (public) performances.

Students are expected to contribute actively during the lessons.

Students are expected to prepare each lesson by studying their individual scores, improvisational-workout or improvisation.

AssessmentGrading scale
TOTALPass / Fail

The evaluation follows the pass/fail principal, no score will be given.

The evaluation criteria for passing this course are the following:

Presence (1 illegitimate absence or absence which is announced too late automatically results in a fail for this course)

Preparation of and collaboration during the rehearsals/concerts

Absence from rehearsals or concert:

In case of a planned, legitimate absence in an ensemble rehearsal and/or concert, the Production Bureau must always be informed in advance.

A legitimate absence is only possible according in the case of the following options. If you qualify, please report this and follow the appropriate procedure:

1) You have an official status as a working student . However, you can only be absent according to a schedule agreed by the Production Office and the Study career consultant.

2) Illness: report to the Production Office and upload your doctor's attestation via Proform to justify your absence.

3) You have a Top Arts status or a unique top-level cultural opportunity. This must always be discussed with and approved by the coordinator in advance.

4) Curriculum obligations in another graduation subject: only after approval by the departmental coordinator and if timely notified to the Production office.

Given that OPO ensemble is evaluated on the basis of attendance, illegitimate absence inevitably leads to a fail for the course.

A second examination opportunity is only possible after full participation in the evaluation activities of the first examination session in the first and/or second exam period. This means that the second examination session is only possible after full participation in the ensemble productions. This means that the second examination session is not possible as a postponed examination, unless approved by the exam ombuds.

If a second examination opportunity is offered with different examination modalities, this will be communicated to the student in writing.
